Families

When we think about salvation, we often think in individual terms: “Jesus saved me.” And while that’s beautifully true, it’s not the full picture. From Genesis to Revelation, God reveals Himself not only as a personal Savior but as a God of generations — a God who saves families, establishes legacies, and calls His people to think beyond themselves.
God's Vision Is Multi-Generational
Throughout Scripture, we see that God is not just concerned with a generation — but with generations. In His covenant with Abraham, God declares:
“I will establish my covenant between me and you and your descendants after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your descendants after you.”
— Genesis 17:7 (ESV)
God’s plan was never meant to stop with Abraham. It was always designed to go through Abraham to reach countless generations. The same is true for us today. God's desire is to save your household — to redeem your marriage, restore your children, and set a trajectory of righteousness for the future.
Pastor and theologian A.W. Tozer once wrote,
“A scared world needs a fearless church.”
But we’d go a step further: a scared world needs fearless families—anchored in grace, unshakable in truth, and bold enough to believe that their children will do greater things than they ever dreamed.
We Invest in the Next Generation
At Heartland, we believe that Heartland Kids are not the church of tomorrow—they are the church of today. We don’t babysit children; we disciple them. We expect that the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead (Romans 8:11) is moving powerfully in our children right now. When we teach kids to pray, to worship, to hear God's voice — we are shaping world-changers.
Jesus Himself made it clear:
“Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”
— Matthew 19:14 (ESV)
If the Kingdom belongs to the children, then we must shape our homes and churches to reflect that truth. We must create environments where kids are equipped to know God deeply and follow Him courageously.

Taking Responsibility for Our Legacy
Leaving a legacy isn’t accidental — it’s intentional. We can’t hope our kids “turn out alright.” We must train them up:
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
— Proverbs 22:6 (ESV)
Theologian Charles Spurgeon challenged parents and leaders alike when he said:
“Let no Christian parents fall into the delusion that Sunday School is intended to ease them of their personal duties. The first and most natural condition of things is for Christian parents to train up their own children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.”
This isn’t just about parenting — it’s about discipleship. It’s about leaving a spiritual inheritance that outlives you. It’s about making sure that the next generation doesn’t just inherit your faith, but your fire.
Expecting More
We don’t believe the next generation will just survive this culture. We believe they will shape it.
“The children of your servants shall dwell secure; their offspring shall be established before you.”
— Psalm 102:28 (ESV)
At Heartland, we dream of families so full of faith that their great-grandchildren reap the fruit of their obedience. We believe God saves entire households (Acts 16:31), and we expect Him to move through your family to accomplish more for the Kingdom than you ever imagined.
God saves families. And through those families, He builds His Kingdom.
Let’s raise the kind of generation who doesn’t just follow in our footsteps—but runs further and faster into all that God has for them.
